Bringing a sense of the tropics to your greenhouse.

One of the main advantages of owning a greenhouse is the wide range of plants you are able to grow. Even if your greenhouse is unheated, you will be surprised by the range of growing opportunities available in comparison to the sometimes limited opportunities of the unreliable British climate.

If you have a heated greenhouse you will be able to cultivate and enjoy species such as Bromeliades, with its attractive spiky foliage and intriguing flowers. Billergina nutants will really offer a sense of the exotics. Only within a heated greenhouse will the delicate yellow, red and blue flowers develop. If you decide to grow tropical plants you should firstly consider their growing requirements. Some plants will require an intensive care regime including regular watering and feeding to keep them looking at their very best.

Gloriosa is another heated greenhouse favourite. It has highly scented orange flowers, which bloom in spring, summer and autumn and attractive variegated foliage. Dieffenbachia is also a wonderful choice for transforming you greenhouse along with dracaenas, poinsettias and cyclmen.

If your greenhouse provides a cooler climate you can still obtain a sense of the tropics. Hedychiums are a great choice for lower temperatures, their spidery scented flowers are beautiful and create a wonderful display. Gloxina, camellias and streptosolen will also look truly amazing and are all suited to slightly cooler temperatures.

Whether your greenhouse is warm or cool, you can discover a whole new world of plants, which offer colour shape and textures all pleasing to the eye.
