Choosing the fuel, choosing the BBQ - Napoleon Grills Press Release

Choices Choices! Its a minefield. Choosing a barbecue might seem easy but with options that start at just a few quid and with others costing a Kings ransom it can be difficult to know whats what. Apart from a budget the next best place to start is with the fuel, how do you want to cook? With Charcoal, Liquid Propane, Natural Gas or Electric? There is one key difference between deciding on a cooker for your kitchen and deciding on a barbecue. While you wouldnt cook over an open fire in your home, a charcoal barbecue gives you just that option and oh how men just loves those flames!

CHARCOAL GRILLING
This is the one for traditionalists, for the boy scout and girl guide in us. The smell and smoky flavour it produces is everything we love about a ˜barbecue. Charcoal barbecues are usually cheaper but require regular purchases of coal. Theres a knack to lighting one and it takes up to 40 mins for the coals to be ready, but use a Charcoal Starter (£22.99) and not only is the lighting all but guaranteed, but the coals are ready to go in a fraction of the time. By utilising the vents, you can control the temperature for great results.

GAS GRILLING
Although gas barbecues are more expensive than charcoal barbecues, they cost less to operate. So if you want convenience and spontaneity this is your best choice. You can fire up at the push of a button and be ready to go in about 10 minutes, (check the in-built thermometer) or immediately if your barbecue has a SIZZLE ZONE„¢. You can adjust burners individually and therefore your cooking temperature at the turn of a knob. What could be simpler?

Whats more, taste does not have to be the compromise. Especially designed sear plates ensure that steam and smoke generated by the cooking fats as they drip, infuse the food giving it that typical barbecue flavour.
Liquid Propane is readily available from DIY stores and garden centres and once a tank is bought it can be easily refilled or replaced.

NATURAL GAS GRILLING
Increasingly new homes are being fitted with outside natural gas points. Its a cheap form of energy and means no cylinder is required and no fill-ups. The cooking benefits are identical to those associated with using propane. Napoleon® has several models designed especially for natural gas including the LE3 (£1000) and the new P500 (from £1500).

ELECTRIC GRILLING
The most common type of electric ˜grill in the UK is in fact essentially a griddle. This is not a traditional barbecue, it offers a different cooking and eating experience. It is convenient, can be used indoors but offers just one type of cooking; there is no opportunity for slow cooking, for cooking larger cuts, for smoking or for choosing between searing and grilling “ it all cooks the same way.
